Voices Salutes the PNC Financial Services Group’s Grow Up Great Initiative

Like Voices, the PNC Financial Services Group recognizes that learning in a child’s early years is essential for his or her long-term success. Through Grow Up Great, a multi-year early childhood education initiative that was recently extended by $250 million, PNC helps prepare at-risk children from birth to age 5 for success in school and life.

PNC introduced Grow Up Great in Chicago through a partnership with the Adler Planetarium, The Field Museum, Museum of Science and Industry and Shedd Aquarium to enhance science education for underserved students in preschool programs operated by Chicago Public Schools and Big Shoulders Fund.

“A quality preschool program creates a foundation for success,” said Joe Gregoire, PNC Bank regional president in Illinois, speaking on behalf of the PNC Foundation. “Our support of science and math education for Chicago pre-K students is a strategic investment to address the changing needs of an economy that is increasingly based on knowledge and skills.”

Additionally, PNC also partnered with the Chicago Public Library on a new financial education program to support children, their families and teachers. The effort teaches lessons in spending, sharing and saving and equips parents to reinforce the lessons at home.
