Through no fault of their own, some children lose their parents or have to be taken out of their homes for their own protection and placed in foster care. These foster kids face challenges that most children never have to worry about, not the least of which is a questionable public perception. However, with a little help, these children have proven they can become as successful as anyone else.

What Voices for Illinois Children is Doing

Voices, along with over 60 private child welfare agencies across Illinois are leading the Foster Kids Are Our Kids social marketing campaign to change perceptions about foster kids and to challenge the public to contribute to improving their lives. The campaign features a TV commercial airing on WGN-TV as well as print materials, a website and training support for child welfare agencies.

What You Can Do

There are a lot of ways you can make a difference: Be a foster parent. Mentor a foster child. Volunteer at a foster care agency. Donate money or help with fundraising. Join a board of a local agency near you. Help change the way people think about foster care.
