Media Advisory: Illinois Kids Count 2013 Statewide News Conferences

WHAT:  Invitation to Illinois media to attend their local news conference for the launch of the Illinois Kids Count 2013 report, the most thorough yearly examination of children’s lives in the state. Illinois Kids Count presents the best available data to measure the educational, social, economic, and physical well-being of Illinois children. This year’s report is “Moving Policy, Making Progress.”

WHEN:  Illinois Kids Count will launch at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at news conferences around the state. The complete report and media materials will be available electronically after 10 a.m. on Feb. 14, 2013 at http://www.voices4kids.org/publications-multimedia/kids-count-reports/illinois-kids-count-2013/.

WHERE:  News conferences are being held in Champaign, DuPage County, East St. Louis, Joliet, Peoria, Quad Cities, Quincy, and Southern Illinois. Please see the below information for speaker and location details.

WHO:  Gaylord Gieseke, president, Voices for Illinois Children, community and education leaders, business leaders, health experts, and policymakers from around the state are available to discuss this year’s Illinois Kids Count report.

WHY:  Illinois Kids Count gauges the seriousness of the problems facing children. It serves to provide benchmarks of child well-being; to enrich local and state conversations about policy affecting children’s health, education and well-being; and to measure child outcomes and contribute to public accountability for those outcomes.
