New legislation will maintain stable revenue

This afternoon, we tip our hat to Senator Heather Steans who announced plans last week to introduce a bill to maintain stable and sustainable revenue so Illinois can educate our children, fund essential services, and pay our bills.

The Chicago Sun-Times’ Dave McKinney reports that the bill will maintain current tax rates, preventing a gaping $2 billion budget hole that would mean deep cuts for programs our kids, families, and communities rely on.

We look forward to working with the entire General Assembly to ensure funding in the short term for vital programs by maintaining current tax rates, and to ensure long-term tax fairness by passing the fair tax amendment.
